what do you guys know about exhause leaks on th super dutys. when I was doing rough carpentry we had a gasser f20 that had an exhaust leak on the passenger side and i didnt think too much of it. well, fast forward to today, i test drove an 05 f250 and it had the exact same exhaust leak. I guess my question is, is this common with the 5.4 trucks to have an exhaust leak from manifold or where ever.

the A/C probably drips there causing it to crack.

99-04 V6 mustangs have that same problem on the passenger side header. A/C condensation drips while running and over time it cracks

The AC compressor on the 4.6 and 5.4s are mounted at the bottom (below the exhaust manifold).

Look for broken/loose/missing exhaust manifold bolts.

Yeah that is the general consensus that I have figured out. I am thinking I may buy it and spend a weekend swearing up a storm and emptying some beer cans. Mainly because besides the exhaust leak and needing new tires the truck is in great shape at a good price.

The 5.4 liter truck engines are notorious for the pass side exhaust manifold studs breaking, causing uneven clamping force, causing a
tick or leak... Like previously mentioned the 3.8 mustangs have a problem on the pass side, but those manifolds crack.

all of the 3.8's with that problem are 99-04's because they changed from a true shorty header to a stamped steel manifold in '99.

but that is completely irrelevant to the thread now.
