Update for the 17th Annual Mustangs and Mustangs...Legends Havin' Fun show at Fantasy of Flight.
Arriving at the Show:
Plan on arriving early this year. I have been advised by Fantasy of Flight that since they announced that they were closing to the general public the day after the show that they have experienced almost twice as many patrons than they had before the announcement. In order to avoid the crowds, I would suggest that you get to registration as soon as possible. Also remember that you must arrive prior to registration closing in order to have your car on the show field. This is due in part to the large number of spectators expected to be there that day. We will keep registration open as long as someone is in line, but if you arrive after registration closes, your car will not be allowed to enter the show field. You will be able to pick up your armbands at the express gate so that you can enter Fantasy of Flight as a normal visitor.
Once again this year, fire extinguishers are required for each car. If you have a fire extinguisher, please have it available to show the attendant when you arrive. This will speed up the registration process. If you do not have one, we will have them available for sale at registration. Fire extinguishers will cost $15.00 each. We only accept cash or checks on the day of show. No credit/debit cards.
Directions to the show: Take exit #44 (SR 559) off I-4 and follow the signs to Fantasy of Flight. If you had been traveling from Tampa on I-4 you will turn left from the exit. If you had been traveling from Orlando, you will turn right from the exit. Turn left at the first road (CR 557A/SR559). Drive 1.1 miles. The show entrance is west of the main gate to Fantasy of Flight.
We will have a line for pre-registered cars and one for day of show registration. One of our volunteers will direct you to the proper line. Please stay in the line you are directed to; it allows the lines to move more smoothly. Identify yourself to the volunteer at the registration table either with your registration form or verbally. The volunteers will provide you with your registration packet containing your door prize ticket, you day of show arm bands, IMPC Presidents welcome letter, Participant Vote Ballot, Dash Card, Judging Sheet, instructions for "Displaying Your Show Car for Our Judges" and a form to supply us with your email address. This form will be very important so that we can contact you about next year's show. If you were one of the first 250 cars registered, you will have a dash plaque in your registration envelope. If you bought raffle tickets for the Stearman airplane ride/fly, they will also be in your envelope.
After you have received your registration packet, you will be directed to where your car will be photographed in front of a P-51 airplane. Please follow the directions of the volunteers as they stage your car for the photo. After your photo is taken, you will be directed to the show parking area. At this time, please put the dash card on the driver's side of your dashboard where it can be seen by the volunteers.
You will need to put your wrist bands on before crossing the runway. There will be someone at the runway checking your wrist bands. The wrist bands must remain visible for the entire time that you are at Fantasy of Flight and our Car Show. The wrist bands are your admission to the Fantasy of Flight museum and grounds.
Fantasy of Flight asks that you not stop while crossing the runway or on the tarmac area. There will be an area on the show field for those that are waiting for others in their party that they wish to park with. Let the parking attendants know that you are waiting for others and they will direct you to the waiting area.
Voting and Judging:
After you have parked, please read the "Displaying Your Show Vehicle for Our Judges" sheet. It will explain what we are looking for during judging. Also at this time, please display your judging sheet under the drivers wiper blade so that our judges can find it quickly when they come by to judge your car. After the car is judged, a green dot will be placed on the headlight. Do not confuse this dot with the red one that was placed when you were checked for the fire extinguisher. You will end up with 2 dots on your headlight at the end of the day. If you are not judged by 12 noon,please come to the Club Tent and mention this to one of the club members working the tent so that we do not miss anyone's car.
You will find in the Registration Packet your "Participant Vote Ballot". We ask that you vote for 1 car in the DOS class and 1 car in CC class and return the ballot to the Club tent no later than 1:00 p.m. DOS cars will have a Blue dash card and CC cars will have a Tan dash card.
Remember, a fire extinguisher is a requirement for the show and must be prominently displayed. If you have just purchased the fire extinguisher, please be sure to remove it from the box.
Event T-Shirts and Photos:
If you pre-ordered a show shirt, it will be available at the Club Tent. They will have a list of everyone who pre-ordered a shirt and will handle distribution of these. There will be a limited amount of show shirts available for sale at the show. Make your purchase early to avoid disappointment. The photo that was taken of your car when you entered the show will be available approximately two hours after you entered the show. Please go to the photographers booth in the vendors area where your photo will be displayed. The photo that is on display is yours to take home without charge. If you would like enlargements or other services, such as a plaque to mount the photo on or a tin sign made of the photo, they will be glad to take care of your needs.
At the end of the trophy and raffle prize presentation there will be a special raffle drawing. This drawing will be based on dash card numbers and everyone with a dash card will be eligible. Also at that time the Sponsors Pick trophies will be given out.
Other Information:
Be sure to check out all the vendors that are at the show. There just might be something there that you need.
As we have in the past, this year's show is in support of Volunteers in Support of the Elderly (VISTE). As stated on their web page, (www.viste.com) "Volunteers in Service to the Elderly (VISTE) is a community-based, non-profit organization serving Lakeland, Bartow, Mulberry and Ft. Meade. Established in 1983, the primary goal of VISTE is to enable frail elderly persons to continue living independently and safely in their own home".
Fantasy of Flight has brought in additional medical staff in anticipation of the large number of people expected. If a medical emergency arises, please come to the Club Tent for help.
The DJ will be announcing items of interest during the day such as when the awards will start. Please keep an ear out for any announcements made during the day. If you have a request or dedication that you would like made, stop by the DJ booth, they will be glad to accommodate your request. Also, listen for the trivia games that they will be playing for prizes during the day.
Due to the large number of guests that will be at the show, all cars are expected to remain on the show field until after the trophy presentation If a true emergency arises, we ask that you come to the club tent and ask to be escorted off the show field.
Remember, the show goes on rain or shine.
