Yea, the Typhoon does have a lot of casting defects that need to be worked out before it can be installed, but does produce similar power as the Eddelbrock it's based off of. GT-40 intakes are pretty good, however it's the upper, not the lower, that hampers the power of the intake. As stated, they're good for low end torque, and when ported, can make decent power. The GT-40 Cobra and tubular GT-40 intakes are pretty much the same as one another and both about as good, the Explorer GT-40 is the worst looking IMO, and worst performing of the three. Best thing to do, however, is to find a 94/95 Cobra or SVO intake as it doesn't require the elbow adaptor or anything else for that matter for the install. If you get a foxbody based intake (Typhoon, Trickflow, Eddelbrock, Holley, etc.) you'll need the elbow adaptor, which while not expensive, does add to the cost, and aren't as easy to mount the EGR too as the 94/95 Cobra intakes are. I had a Cobra upper intake, but replaced it with the Kenne Bell, which needed the elbow adaptor, and there is one way, and only one way the EGR will mount to the elbow adaptor, in other words, there's not nearly the same amount of play with them. Looked to me like the angle changed a little which caused the issue. It will go on, but you'll be there a while trying to get it all to line up. But in all honesty, all this work is nearly worthless without a good set of heads, so this is where it's time for you to sit down and decide what you want out of the car.
