Message: <blockquote data-quote="ttocs" data-source="post: 1587299" data-attributes="member: 11896">Sorry to hear you were called out but we need to be honest that it needs to be better, but knowing how welders are he probably laid into you pretty good since they tend to be alpha-assholes from the ones I know.  you sound like me with the welder, and ferris buehler with a clarinet, never had one lesson.  They way I have got around this is with practice pieces.   We have a local metal place that I get my materials from and I have learned that they have a VERY large box of cut offs and left overs that they send out for recycling and they have always been happy to let me dig though and I don't go crazy by any means but I can normally find something that is about the same thickness to practice on.  Once I get the settings right, then I move to the pieces I want to do correctly.</blockquote>
