Gears... Help Identify

I was under the car to install a new fuel filter. Took some pics, don't know how to read the item on the rear ......

help identify....

looks like its going to be a 2.73.....

you need to bend the tag down, start at the bottom left, should be 2L73 or 3L08 or 3L23....... the L just means trac-loc the other 3 numbers go in order. if there is no L then its an open diff.

Was an open Diff even an option???? correct me if i'm wrong open diff will NOT lock; basically becoming loose if it loses traction

as appose to a traction loc

that locks when it slips?

an open diff basically has no traction device in the rear end, you have no limited slip you have no "posi" and ovbiously not a spool or locker. you see tihs most comonly in v6 cars or a 2wd ranger...

So i have a trac - loc with 2.73's i guess i can live with that..... i need 4.10s

now i don't feel so bad about running a 14.9

i need the GEARS!

yea get some gears in there, I had 3.73's in my car when i ran my 12.6... decide what you want to do with the car and then go from there

thats exactly what i ran (in the 1/8th) with my bone stock 96 auto with 3.08s so you are doing fine...... 3.73s will get you another 2-3 tenths possibly more if you can get traction out the hole and cut that 60'
