I have a parasitic drain on my batteries. If I don't drive the car for a week, the batteries are dead. I took it to a mechanic and the feedback is, I need a new GEM module.

Anyone here have the same issues?

Yes my 99 3.8l does that but I just put a tender on if I'm not going to drive it for a week or so.
I don't have any of the symptoms of that like, wipers erratic, done light staying on issues, door lock issues, key fob not working, etc.

I picked up a noco Genius 2. I am also running 2 6v optima red batteries in series.
I heard that running the tender on a timer might be a good idea.
my electrical knowledge is limited, so any guidance would be appreciated.
I am going to install the tender, but I still want to troubleshoot the greater issue.
I will run through the procedures I have and hopefully it will confirm or deny my current assumptions.

Do you have any of those symptoms I mentioned?

why 2 6v agms? Is that in addition to the regular 12v or instead of?
Instead of. I cannot fit a regular 12v in my car anywhere. I have the 2 6v batteries laying on their sides under my rear seat package tray.

have we first tested that it is the gem by disconnecting it and making sure the voltage is good in a few days? Yes teh mach audio amps are known to be battery drains. Even if you are not using the rear the front amp is often left in place/plugged in and it can still cause problems even if it is not being used.

I have a custom audio instal, but I pulled it's main fuse in order to eliminate it as an issue...
Hummmm...
There are so many electrical systems. I am just going to have to go through them one at a time...
Sighhhhhh...

the front amp if you still have it is located directly below the radio mounted to the top of the trans hump. If you get on the driver side console and pull the carpet up you can see the end of it(the blue up front is the abs IIRC). If you do see it and you can reach the harnesses in there then disconnect it. It should not effect the sound but it is a known problem.

Like I said just disconnect the gem module and either have an amp meter hooked up(you will need to disconnect the battery and put the meter in between the lead/battery if you do not have a hook/inductance type to measure) or just leave it for a few days and see if it loses voltage.
