Yeah I've got brand new struts and shocks along with brand new bushings and ball joints, just had them installed about 2500 miles ago if that.
And yeah its got a very firm ride and to be honest I like it, I know it throws me around a bit but hey a muscle car is not meant to ride like a Cadillac. Yesterday I took an off ramp that looped around to my road and I took it at about 50mph and the car didn't budge one bit, it held its ground very well.
The shocks are not the solution to having a better ride here. My guess is that the car is too low, and you probably riding on bumpstops at this moment. It may not sound like a big issue to you, but every time you hit the bump stop, you end up going almost solid in that corner which is what contributing to your harsh ride. On top of this, not only is your ride height it compromised, but so is your handling. Every time you ride the bump stop, your spring rate becomes infinite, because you are solid to solid surface. This means that if you hit the rear bump stop in the middle of the corner, you end up going much stiffer in the rear, and that will cause the car to oversteer. Suspension should never bottom out, if you want it to work properly. There has to be a certain amount of suspension travel and weight transfer depending on what kind of tire you are using. The less weight transfer you have, the stickier tire has to be to compensate for it. Those people who lower their cars right down to bumpstops, and think that their cars handle great due to no body roll because suspension has no travel, are deeply mistaking.
