Went this past friday to a local shop, Excessive Motorsports, to get my car dynoed. Just wanted to see some numbers. Guys there really know what they are doing. Put down 269HP and 269Torque. All in all i think its not bad for a prety much stock cobra. Any way here are some pics, a vid , and the dyno sheet. Enjoy. Comments always welcome. Oh and can anyone see the newest edition to teh cobra?

On the dyno:

Yep. Im very satified with it. They said usually stock our cars put down anywhere between 265-275. So im right in the middle.

well I wouldn't call your cobra STOCK :D you have a JLT / mid pipe and exhaust so that is going to net you a little on your RWHP .......BUT those 430's ( depending on what you read) could be hurting your numbers. I dont know exactly how but I remember reading a write up somewhere ( SVTP I think ) about how steep gears hurt dyno numbers :dunno: :dunno: there was a formula and all kinds of numbers and stuff to support this theory. Nice numbers though

Yeh i remember reading that article too. Well maybe not completely stock but Id say MOSTLY stock. Gears, exhaust and an intake are just givens on our cars. lol.

Man your car sounds good and make some awesome power. I read the article too and with your 4.30's if I remember correctly the rwhp would probably be around something like 8-14 more hp I think. So I would say your car is making very good power for just the few bolt ons you have. love the taillights they really look good on the car too.

Nice Numbers by the way. 269 RWHP equates to about 335-6 at the flywheel, so that's pretty good.

I totaly disagree with that, your using a 20% drivetrain Loss and for the most part I think thats what is normally accepted as correct but if you do a little research on this subject you will find that may PRO"S in the performacne business thinks that using a % for drivetrain loss is a VERY flawed method for determing flywheel HP. I dont think there is a increased loss in power Thur the drivetrain just because there is a INCREASE in power at the motor. I may be wrong but thats what I think........I would have to go back and find all those write ups and articles on this subject, but trust me there are a LOT OF THEM. Even so I think using the 20% for a manual trans would be too high anyway, 5speeds would be in the 15% area and a AUTOMATIC in the 20% area. Again thats IMO and could be wrong, but I'm going off what I have read over the years.

Look at it this yay......lets use that 20% you quoted and put that on my Lightning, my STOCK dyno was 351rwhp so that would mean its putting out 440HP ( thats 60 over factory rating ) and thats with my automatic. See what I'm getting at??? I DO remember reading that for a typical mustang with a manual trans that a 35hp loss Thur the trans was a pretty good average loss on any car weather is 200hp or 500hp.........what do you guys think?

on a side note I would LOVE to believe that a 20% loss ( or more ) was true on my L, if that WERE true and I get sayyyy 440 on the dyno next week that would mean that I have 550 flywheel hp :bunny3: :dancing6: :bunny3: :dancing6: but who knows :dunno: I read a post on www.nloc.net by a guy that said the L's only loose 12% from motor to wheels :-\

lol. If u saw a post i made a while ago i took it to the track a week or 2 ago and only managed a 14.001. I think I'm taking it back up the 20th for the very last test and tune of the season. Hoping to at least get into the 13's since i don't have radials yet.
