Ok, I have some questions on my car, ive only owned it for less then a month and it's my first car so just letting you know off the bat that I wont know how to check things or what codes are or anything like that, unless you explain it to me.

I have a 1994 GT 5 speed and the temp guage has been reading on the high end of normal recently, on the A and the L of the word normal. usually city driving and the temp with humidity has been about 105 the past few days (Toronto's getting a heat wave, lol) Should I be worried? I checked the collant and the level is about an inch away from where it says "HOT" on the actual resevouir (yes I fail at spelling) I plan to full it up soon, but I dont think this would make a difference.

Also my voltage meter is also reading around the N on the word Normal at idle and still less then half way when im driving...I assume this isnt normal...is this indicating a low battery or something? :dontknow:

I was driving today under these conditions, I stoped to 5 minutes to go in a store, and when I came back out and started the car, it started, and died after a few seconds. I tried again, same thing, then I tried again and got on the gas before it had a chance to die, and it was fine, normal responsivnes, normal power, but the idle was pretty crappy for a minute, but then it was normal again. any ideas? could the unusally hot weather be making my car act wierd? (It was also parked on an incline at the time it died, if that matters.)

Help lol. :dontknow:

The voltage meter problem is probably your alternator. I had the same thing happen with me and I replaced it with a new alternator and it's fine now. I wouldn't worry too much about the heat unless it gets any worse, those gauges aren't very accurate anyhow. Also, if you're running really low on voltage that "could" make your car want to die. Just some ideas, someone else needs to throw something in here though.

i know the coolant temp sensor can make the car run bad if it fails. its a $12 part and easy to replace. i would start off by getting a good working alt on it and top off the radiator.

Buy a $15 Haynes/Chilton manual
Take the alternator to the parts house of you choice and have them test it for free.
Random stalling- might be the distributor on it's way out being that it seems heat related.
If it's stalling then you might have set a code in the computer. ck to see if it did.
Bad spelling is no excuse when there is a "spell check button"
