Heys guys im about to start saving for my H/C/I project. Im was looking @ kits and they seem to be 1.8k-2.8k dollars. Are there any cheaper kits out there?

The trickflow is like 2.8k something.

Im think im going with the 1.8K kit. Are there any cheaper kits out there?


And yes i know i want a 4.6L, but im going to work with what i have

well depends, i waited for all the right parts. Got my heads for $800, got a block,MAF,cam, injectors for $300, Edelbrock stuff for $650. It just depends on the deals out there

That kit is cheaper b/c it comes with the crappy typhoon intake. Do you want a good H/C/I kit or do you want something cheap? If you want something cheap then buy a bunch of chineese knock off parts like the typhoon intake and procomp heads both of which are full of casting flash and flow like crap. Or you can save your money and get the Trickflow top end kit and get some nice quality parts that will make more power. Trickflow heads will pull much better power then those patriot heads.

Oh alright. Is your car currently stock under the hood? (minus the usual gears and exhaust)

That kit with the patriot heads wouldnt be to bad . Clean up the ports on the lower manifold and yea run the patriots

LOL my car is stock as a rock, not even gears. All i have is a O/R H pipe... HAHAH ill ive done really is exterior things and a stock T-5 transmission. Sad part is a have 10k in my car...

if you have to buy it all at once there are not alot of options. If you have some time and need to save up for it then maybe consider piecing one together. I got my trickflow heads on sale delivered for $1k, found the cam on sale 8 months later on sale as well. Picked up some used rockers, a cobra intake that I ported and a lightning maf and a used anderson power pipe. I think I spent around $1600 for it but in the end I was happy with all of it.

It all comes down to what you want to make for power. The more power you want to make the more its going to cost. Cheaper parts make less power due to the quality of the parts, the flow and the castings for example. I have more invested into my cylinder heads then an entire top end kit.

Take it from someone that has done this ...If you want to keep it N/A I would but some new used trickflow heads off corral and before you install them have them shaved for more compression .. Then buy a used cam like a trickflow stage1 or keep your stock cam and degree it 2 degrees ... Next buy some used 1.6 or 1.7 Roller Rockers and then buy a good used upper and lower .. The most important part is to have the heads shaved and you will make that 300rwhp mark with a good 220 plus D-500 plus lift cam or around there ..

But I would think about your long term goals if you decide that you want to boost the car later then leave the stock cam and degree it 2 degrees.. Also get a good upper and lower intake .. Because no matter if you keep the stock cam or not you will make more then enough to split shit ..

Just remember you will need new everything .. T body , Mass air ,injectors maybe (Chip and dyno tune)
So it gets expensive quick..

If I was you I would just buy a used Vortech kit off Corral that's in good condition and get a tune , injectors ,pump , and some drag radials lol

Just really thing about your long term goals ....

There really is so much more to the kits but that is a quick answer lol

You will smash a 4.6 with a good H/C/I kit .. Its all about spending that money lol .. Buy the blower and then later when you build a block get H/C/I ..

the trick flow kits will net around the 280-290 mark from what I have seen. The link w/ the typhoon and patriots heads will get you probably no higher then 270 but with both it all depends on other supporting mods.

If you want 300 put on a nice set of Trickflow Fast as Cast 170cc heads, Custom Cam, and a nice upper intake with some supporting exhaust mods and incoming air such as the MAF and TB

The reason why the trickflow top end kits dont make 300rwhp most of the time is because when they dyno tuned the kit they used a higher compression motor thats why shaving the heads gets you there .. What ever you do have them shaved..

Go Supercharger, puts you in your power range and takes much less work. Resale is pretty good too.

If you realllllly want a 4.6 now might be a good time to start building one on the side. Piece together a nice 4V combo for a little more money if you shop around. Mark8 engine, T45, Cobra intake/cams, wiring and ecm. Then after the swap you can part out your 5.0 stuff and make some of your money back. If I could do it over again that is how I would go.
