How common is it for the 5.0 head gasket to leak directly into the cylinder say between 2 and 3? I have roughly 20% loss in 2 and 3 and I also slowly loose coolant. I'm just curious if I have a small gasket leake between 2 and 3.

I've never ran spray but I haven't owned the vehicle it's entire life so who knows what it's been through. I'm kind of scared to pull the heads and see what I find.

My headgaskets popped on me one day out of the blue. The previous owner never put coolant in it and it rusted thru the gasket. Yours could just have gone like that too.

Does it smoke white or blue and is mixing water and oil?

Never seen any smoke and no water in the oil. The thing is I have a miss I've been unable to cure at idle 20% loss in both cylinders 2 and 3 and my low coolant light will come on after about 2-3 months. A very very slow leak. I can't find any coolant anywhere tho.

Hmm you should use a rad pressure tester and pump it up and see where the water pisses out if you can't see it leaking then it could be going right down the cylinder bores. Have you done any serious Burnouts people say this can cause it a's well from the high revs but ive never blown any doing that before.

If you have a boroscope/ tv probe deal,

pistons that have coolant leaking into them will be clean. No carbon.

But you should just pull the heads, have em decked and a valve job. Crack testing couldnt hurt.

Maybe 400 bucks if you watch what you spend.

I'm not buying another set of heads. The p's have different plug mounting and can make headers difficult I understand that but they are also a more efficient gt40 head. I have to save most my money to get the ball rolling on my 71 drag project.
