I just had to pull my oil filter in order to get my motor mount in, and when draining the oil I noticed it looked quite brown. The oil has only been in the car for 30 miles or so. Is this color due to the fact that it has hardly been run? The temp does flictuate and get warmer as I move and cooler when I idle. I don't smell coolant at all, which I thought was a sure sign. Any ideas? Thanks is advance.

if you dont see green stripes in the oil or foam, i would say its just dirty, it dont take long for oil to show dirt

Are you losing coolant and can't find a leak? Are you getting compresion into the cooling system?

If you have coolant in the oil, you oil will turn a milky brown, like muddy coffee. You may see green spots on the dipstick. Remove and check you PCV valve, you might find coolant residue on it.

The oil looked somewhat milky and I have been losing coolant for awhile and have found no leak. Probably lost a gasket. Just have to add it to the growing list of projects. LOL

Probably from condensation and lousy circulation from not being driven very much.

Well that is another story, I didn't see that when I made my first response..heh.

Most likely a bad head gasket..you can do a die test to make sure.
