Headers switch....

So my friend is giving me his headers because he is getting all new parts for his stang. He has an 88. Will the headers off his 88 5.0 fit on my 95 5.0?
or will i have to buy my own?

Yes, they should. It sometimes depends on brand, but for the most part, yes. I am currently running Hedman Longtubes made for a fox.

if they do work, please let me know what they are, I have been looking for a set of long tubes for a while. All the ones i have seen for a fox dont fit the 94/95 I was told they hit the starter... Im looking for long tubes with 3" collectors

The only difference in fox vs an shortys is the fox headers don't have the egr tube bung on the passenger side. Longtubes wont have it either and they are hit or miss on clearing the starter

There are definitely a lot more issues with long tubes besides just clearing the starter. If they are shorties you might get away with it, but you'll have to remove your EGR. Imo buy the correct parts for your car.

one of the few people that make shorties for the 1st gens... one of these days ill get a set for my 66

if they are shorties the only thing you should have to mod is the egr. you dont have to delete it, just make it not funtion. plug the bung on the bottom of the egr and you should be good to go. a penny fits nicely inside the nut thats on the factory exchange pipe that runs to your header.

If you don't have the EGR deleted through the computer there's a good chance it'll throw the CEL.
