I've have a 94 GT that runs great. However, after running it hard last weekend, I noticed that the temp gauge is just past the middle. Its normal since I was driving it harder than normal. However, now in traffic, I notice the gauge climb all the way over about 3/4 of the way to the right. It used to never do this and its actually been cooler her in Florida lately. I do have 145,000 miles on the engine. But just wondering why all of the sudden is the car running a little warmer than before.

Any opinions?

Thanks,

Rob

Pressure check the cooling system. Look for leaks. Do a compression test. Uhm, make sure you distributor didn't come loose and change your timing a little bit. That can cause a car to run hotter than normal. Just some thoughts off the top of my head.

does your electric fan work on low and hi speed?. if everything is ok then it might be time for a flush.

what color is your coolant, does is appear to be a rust color? Also you might want to replace your radiator cap as the pressure it is rated for will change the surface tension of the water/coolant mix to aid in cooling(I think I explained that right), flush the coolant system, and also what the guys recommended above.

last but not least, how old is your t-stat?
wont be a bad idea to replace it with a 180* type.

Check your coolant levels and condition.. and how old is the Tstat? Mine started to sit right at halfway, I replaced the Tstat and coolant with 75/25 water/coolant, now it never goes past 215

Or maybe instead of doing all this you could just buy a real gauge and see what the actual number is.
