Well one of my friends has a 97 GT and he was just driving to his local supermarket
to get a few things and his check engine light came on.
I ran his codes with my old SCT Xcal2 and it turns out he has not one but,
two check engine light codes stored in his vehicle.
Can any of you guys help him out and look up these codes or know just what they are?
Possibly what parts he has to replace?
Lately his exhaust fumes coming from his exhaust has been smelling strong like unburn
fuel or like his vehicle could possibly be running rich. Anyone?

Thank you AaRoN I appreciate your knowledge.
Do you think that it is possible that his P1000 code
means his 02 sensors failed? He is on his origanal Ford 02 sensors
do you recommend changing them at the same time he replaces his
mid pipe? I am trying to gather all the knowledge I possibly can.

No. The P1000 is not a fault code. It is an indicator code that simply means all the self-tests have not been run yet since the last computer reset. It's primary practical effect is to keep vehicle owner's from cheating on emissions tests.

I'd check the 02's. How many miles are on his car?

70K miles and counting.
Do you personaly think it would be a good idea to just change them with his
new mid pipe?

I wouldn't if they don't look bad. But, if he has the $$, then definitely change them while you're down there.

I wouldn't worry about the P1000. That one will work itself out.

The other one..is just a bad cat so I don't think the O2 sensors need to be replaced. They will throw their own code if they malfunction.
