Hey guys. Im looking to get a high revving cam. Does anyone know of any good ones off the top of their heads? If it helps I have Eddy Performer heads and a GT40 intake.

If you think of other specifics feel free to ask. I would prefer to stay with a roller cam as well. Stock stoke and bore...

yeah don't bother with a " High Reving Cam"

Second. Gearing and valvetrain has alot to do with it. My suggestion? Custom cam. Always and forever.

Going above 6k on a stock short block is stupid. Ain't to say it, but our cars aren't like in the fast and furious movies, when we downshift, like most every other car, we LOSE power. Stock cams don't power past like 4.2 or 4.5k, most aftermarket cams(depending on how wild or mild it is) are from 5.5k(mine makes peak power there and is mild) to 6.5k, which is not a stock short block. Maybe someone who has a high revving 302 can chime in?

your intake isn't going to do anything above 6000 without a power adder so stick within a rpm range that matches the rest of the combo

I've seen good things from the Anderson cams I had a great tune for my fox and she saw 6500 quite a few times. I wouldn't run it always to that limit but a custom cam, springs, and a tune was all I had for the top end. Typhoon intake was mean all the way to 6500 also it's cheap just make sure to inspect it and clean it up if needed

go on anderson ford motor sport and look up the n-51 hr cam

Correct me if i'm wrong but I believe you would have to notch out your pistons with an n51. I just picked up a n412, but who knows when I'll get around to installing it.

Just go for the highest lift and longest duration cam you can find. At high really RPMs your motor is just struggling to find *any* sort of air that it can suck in. So the more you give it the chance to suck air in, the better you will be. Plus with a high duration cam, the overlap period is longer which helps scavenge air in from the exhaust going out, which helps a lot especially when the exhaust is being forced out so quickly.

I don't know much about 5.0s but I know that the intake plays a huge part to high RPMs too. I just don't know how good a GT40 intake is.

Factory balancers don't like much over 6k so you need to upgrade a bit

As others have said, an NA motor really needs to be built as a system (not that I've done that though) to be able to make power up at that sort of RPM range for these old 5.0's. Your heads may be alright, but you'll need new rod bolts, balancer, intake, came, valvetrain to make it work.
