Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is an engine issue but I figured I would start here and can move this post if need be. I bought a 98 GT for a thousand dollars (obviously not in the best shape) and started my rehab project on it in November. Daily driving in the winter was fine and outside of some bad wheels and a trash battery it never let me down. Recently I have been having some issues when it gets above 85 degrees outside. I will be driving and after about 15 minutes or so on the highway it starts acting like it's not getting any fuel. The mustang wont hold engine speed, when I press the accelerator it spits and sputters but won't actually rev. It feels like its starving for fuel or maybe the automatic transmission is slipping but this only happens when it's hot out. I am wondering if anyone has experienced this and can point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance

are you sure it isn't overheating and pulling timing out to try and cool it? Don't go by the temp gauge on the dash I saw where mine was doing this on a dyno and the guage just read a little high.

This has happened a few times with all different fuel levels. That is a possibility. The previous owner put in an aftermarket temp gauge from autozone because he said the stock gauge failed. It's possible the aftermarket gauge is faulty as well.

where is the gauge hooked up to? Does it have its own sender or is it just wired into the temp gauge in the dash? If that gauge has its own sender then unless its reading way off there is no reason to assume its wrong.

Yeah, assuming things are wrong with no evidence will lead you in circles. Have you put a fuel pressure guage on the rail to see what it's doing? It's possible the fuel pump is on its way out.

Also, mine had all kinds of issues when the ECT sensor was going bad, make sure the sensor and it's wiring are undamaged.
