Message: <blockquote data-quote="realitygt" data-source="post: 464209" data-attributes="member: 9688">perfect explanation of why the 2.73's will have a higher top speed but almost everything in there point to going with a higher gear (lower numerically) throughout all the rpm range, as you will be covering more distance and tire will be spinning faster, I really didn't understand this concept until a little while ago, when I was thinking real hard while waiting lolYou would want a higher gear to go thru your gears faster, so that instead of making the gears longer(with the 2.73's) and taking along time to get up to 5,000rpms and the 15,262.5 feet per minute, you could instead reach the desired 5,000rpms in less time and already be in the next gear.    In other words lets say it takes u 15 seconds to get from idle to 5000rpms and 15,262.5 ft with 2.73's.  With 4.10's it may take 10 seconds to get to idle to 5,000 rpms and 10,162.5 ft where you would shift. that would mean you would have an extra 5 seconds in the next gear to make up for the loss of the tire spinning slower compared to the 2.73's.  with that other 5 seconds in the next gear you will probably exceed the distance covered by the 2.73's in the 1st gear.I confused my self for a minute and had to type the whole thing out to straighten it out. maybe someone else isn't getting it, and this will help lol, craig everything you say I always understand better after I hear u say it than I did before. ur explanations really help alot haha :thumb:btw we have the same first name</blockquote>
