I picked up a used fiberglass 3" cowl hood for my 94 vert for 50 bucks! The problem is there are no inserts whatsoever. No latch catch and no hinge studs. Just holes where everything should be! Do I have any options other than pins or lift off setup?

Sounds like a lift off style? You have to use pins if it is. Probably why it was $50, they're significantly cheaper

I would not mess with the possiblity of a hood latch failing if it were not already installed. We have seen it happen too often and as much as I hate hood pins I did them on mine when I swapped hoods. If you do not like the look of hood pins check out the aerocatch style but I would go with the pin-on before trying to modify it to hold normally. The flush hood pin set up I is not all that visable and not really all that hard to do. I showed how on my drive page.

Show us some pictures first just so we can see what you're working with. In any case, most people recommend hood pins on any aftermarket hood because the latch mechanism has a tendency to fail without them.

Thank you all for the replies and the advice. I think I got the latch situation figured out if not I'll definitely do some pins. Seems to be the safest option. But I still gotta figure out how to mount the back of the hood to the hinges. There are no studs just holes lol. I'll get pics as soon as I go to my garage where the hood is at.

What is there left to figure out about the back??? It's already been said that you just use bolts thru the brackets into the inserts.

Yea, many hoods have threaded holes in the hood for bolts to pass through the brackets. They're usually like m10x1.5 or something similar. Sometimes m8 sometimes m12.
