I recently just purchased a vortech v1 with an upgraded impeller. How can I test the headunit to see if it is good or not? I heard a video of it running didn't sound bad, but you never know when the video was actually taken. It looks to have a 928 motorsports impeller, but the guy bought used from a shop rebuilt that way threw it on the car and blew up his motor. Bought off ebay so if I can test it and it is bad I will file a complaint saying it's bad.

Do the "jiggle test" on the input puley and also on the impeller. If both are free of excess movement, you should be good to go. I dont know of any way to test the seals for oil leakage without it actually being installed.

You can hook a vacuum gauge to the oil feed line and block off the oil drain line. Pump up some vacuum and see if it holds. If it holds vacuum the seals are working. Also put light psi on the impeller and spin it and feel for any roughness when spinning. Roughness would indicate bearing failure. Also pull up on the impeller and check for excessive clearance.
