Stock auto cars until the recent 5.0 cars were always slower than a good driver behind the wheel of a stick car thats the simple truth.ill add that the talk about an auto outperforming a stick driver when your talking anything in the 2 digit e.t range is stupid. yes it will be more reliable because you cant miss a gear but as long as your half way decent you should get good times out of either in the same setup with the trans style being the difference. Are there cars that go into the 8s with sticks? yep sure are, they are the exception to the rule, and sure that maybe your thing which is great more power to anyone who wants to do that.what i think is missing out of all the statements for the most part about the subject is it is completely and utterly opinion based PERIOD. Personally anything above 10.00 I prefer a stick car I owned and evo that ran mid 11s on a stock 5 speed and a high 10 mustang with a tremec i enjoyed them inmmensly on the street, for my drag car whose goal is to go 7.99 I have a power glide which i get to shift from 1st to 2nd. Im sure I could have procurred a tranny that could handle my power and done it with a stick but when traveling 160+ shifting gears isnt what i want to be doing.
