im having second thoughts about what i want. :tard: im thinking i should stay N/A. i built the motor for a s/c. but the more i read the more i keep seeing problems. i dont want the headache.

im seriously thinking about tearing it all apart and building a 347 or 363. ill def have to change the cam and up the compression. good thing is i will be able to use most of my parts. bad thing is the car being down again. if i ever get bored with it ill just spray it.

crazy or should i stay the path? what do you guys think? :dontknow:

Im assuming you have an aftermarket block? I would just do a blower if its aftermarket.

What is the final compression with the heads?

dart. comp is close to 8.95 to 1.

its fun now and i dont even have a blower on there yet. i dont want to take away from that. i think i got carried away with big hp numbers and wanting to be one of the fast guys (locally). i think i should have kept it more simple.

not going to do anything right away anyways. was thinking out loud i guess. i got a few things i want to do to my truck. so that should keep me busy for a while.

Get the blower! It's all in the tune! You can do a basic one yourself with a tweecer or moates quarterhorse! I plan on sending 7-10lbs thru this stock block soon!

well its tuned now (by MPH). so even if i went with the blower it wont be a problem to bring it back up there. theyre awesome when it comes to tuning.

im just happy with it now. i dont wanna add something to it and end up with problems is all. like i said im just thinking about it. but i think you guys are right. i guess if i dont like it with the blower.. i can always build the 363 later.

I would put the blower on and at least experience it before you change your mind. I will say this, I have a 600 hp street car that I built and the build sort of got away from me. It used to be a HCI car, and I could stop at a stopsign and blast on it down the road, and let out of it in 3rd. It was a blast, got to row some gears, etc. Didn't fry the tires too bad, and it was just a fun rush of adrenaline. With the new set up, I can't do that. If I end up pulling in third, I'm way over 100 mph, more like 120. So, I have been rethinking this and I am fortunate enough to have a couple other cars, and I believe I am going to yank the engine and trans out and swap in a basically stock 5.0 with a T5 and put all the high po stuff into a coupe I own, and just make it a track/street car. don't know if this helps or not, sorry for the long ramble.

It's your choice Ant but i'd hate to see a lil 302/306 with squeeze make you hate your decision. Plus, you have a Lightning with a 351! Put a blower on one of em'!

Blowers aren't a headache if you install them right and have a good tune.

but turbos are more fun........ you could get a B&G kit for less than the cost of a blower and have plenty of power on tap, the only limits are your fueling and the shortblock

brian sells his base it for $2750 and you can pick them up used for a decent price, same can be said of the vortechs put power per lb of boost you'll have a faster car with a turbo

turbos are more of a headache. hotter temps and take up more real estate under the hood. have to cut the front of the car for the intercooler, they typically require more maintenance (bearings / seals) due to the hotter temps.

for 2800 what are you getting, what brand turbo?

i paid 2900 for my ysi kit from summit of all places when they first came out with it. has made more then 700 rwhp on 93 octane with NO intercooler what so ever. show me a turbo that is that efficient that can do that after driving 50 miles to the dyno and no cool down time. :angel4:

with better gas it has been 144 mph, do the math on a 3360 lb car and its making a lot of power

the prices on vortechs site are retail, summit is 300 or so bucks cheaper then that and i know if you deal with someone like bob kurgan etc you will get it even cheaper. but regardless with the little extra money you are paying for with the vortech kit you are getting the additional fuel components, ignition retard, and a 3 year warranty. are you getting that with the turbo kit?

hell if you get it installed at a certified vortech installer and a small fee you can get that warranty to also cover your entire drive train.

hmm, hotter temps? than a non-intercooled vortech? i doubt it.... and you dont have to cut the car one bit for an intercooler

what bearings and seals are you talking about? a turbo can last 100k+ miles without a rebuild as long as it is taken care of

for $2750 you get a master power turbo which literally hundreds of turbo mustang guys have been using for years and i plan to use for my own build

turbos are more efficient than superchargers, end of story, theres no arguing it... no cool down time? no problem, thanks to the intercooler included at the $2750 price tag, the turbo was cooling down the whole way to the dyno...

with a turbo you would've had more power per PSI, again, end of story, its a known fact
