Keeps it from banging on stuff and making noise. The x-pipe from American Muscle didn't have anything to fasten the smog pump pipe and just came with a rubber hose to connect it to the cats. That's all that keeps it from hanging free which seems a little strange to me but I guess that's why they call it aftermarket.
