Alrite so i have a little problem with my king cobra clutch. i ordered it off summit and when it got here it was in a Ford Racing box like would be expected. well i open it and the pressure plate and friction disk are wrapped in Valeo paper. again i think no big deal. then i look and Valeo is stamped on all the clutch parts. is this normal or did they send me the wrong clutch. so anyway i installed the clutch and all and everything ive read about the king cobra said how stiff of a clutch it is which is the reason i got it. well the pedal feels very light. even lighter than the clutch i took outa the car. is this right. or is there some way to adjust it to make it feel stiffer. i tried the pedal way but it didnt do anything. thanks in advance

a king cobra is way stiff. I personally hate mine! less than 2000 miles on it and the TO bearing is howling so loud, and well it just slipps when i do a second gear burnout at the track with the slicks in the box.

I say send it back! lol and get a spec stage 2. Anyway it is really a tight clutch. When i first drove mine with mine in it, i stalled it like 15 times on the first drive!

the king cobra clutch is known to go both ways, its either going to be super stiff or super soft. what controls this? i have no idea. the only thing i can think of is that the 11" clutch is supposed to be softer than the 10.5" clutch, but only the 99-01 mustangs can accept both the 11" and the 10.5", so if you have any other year mustang, its hard to confuse the two.

as for the valeo part, the king cobra clutch is made by valeo, so its going to be stamped on there.

oh alrite cool thanks for clearing up the valeo part. and yeah i forgot to mention its a 96. so now im thinkin its something with the cable and quadrant. i think im guna order a new one at work tomorrow. now that ive driven it a lil more ive noticed that it feels like the clutch itself is nice and stiff but the pedal feels really soft. which is why i think its with the cable etc.

My king cobra was like yours, the first week or two ( weather was horrible so i didnt drive it much) it was lighter than a hydrolic clutch in my buddies 2k camaro, then it stiffened up to about how my original king cobra was O0

Valeo is the part's supplier who makes the King Cobra clutch. It's also a truck clutch, lol good marketing huh?

lol yea, so where is the cheapest place to get a King Kobra or is the spec 2 cheaper and lighter on the pedal... I don't want a swole left leg ya know. Plus my knees aren't the best in the world lol. Or should i just stick with a stock clutch ?

Look for Valeo on Ebay, get the genuine thing, I've heard bad about knockoffs.

For the Spec, couldn't tell you, mine came off ebay and was like 40-50 more than a King Cobra set-up.

And know that when I say stiffer, I mean stiffer than stock, not swole leg stiff. The King Cobra was unpleasantly stiffer than stock, my Spec stage 3 was horrendously stiff. My Centerforce DF is light as a feather, and easy to modulate, I'd friggen marry it if I could.

cool, so just look for a cheap stock replacement. Cool that works.

Plus its going to be my first manual so i don't want to burn up a 200 dollar clutch learning to drive :)

Some one open up a new tread for teaching people how to drive manuals???? that would be neat to have.

I'll 2nd... Valeo makes the FRPP KC HD clutch kit. Kind of like the clutch in my F250 is made by LUK brand clutches; it has Ford and LUK stamped all over it. I got 230,000 miles out of that clutch, too. :)

Don't slip it too much and it'll be fine, should go an easy 70k with stock power even if you are learning on it.

Lol, hold the clutch pedal halfway out to start out, or go slow. The clutch half grabs, slipping and basically frying itself. I've seen people do it to hold their place on a hill... I guess they like 400 dollar repair bills :hammer:

Well you have to to get going, but you don't need to do it halfway up the block do you?
