lean at top end.........?

ok so after about 3 or 4 months of having my intake on my car its a trick flow track heat with a one inch spacer and a 75mm bbk throttle body.... so any ways. i am driving around check engine light is going on and off but thats just my egr code coming up dont know why its going on and then off agian like every 5 or 10 mins. but what ever so if i am just slowing going up to like 4 grand to like 4500 rpms then it will start surging not to bad but like it has a miss or something. then if i am all out pedal to the floor once i hit 4k it will go lean no matter what and will stay there till i am off the throttle i dont under stand it this just started to happen. it has to be a fuel problem i mean becuse if i was not getting enough spark it would be to rich and my coil is new and i have new spark plugs and i have a new fuel filter in it to. so any info guys and that would be awesome i can post up a vid of the air/fuel ratio guage if you like to see what it looks like at full throttle and part throttle if it would help you know. thanks guys.

you know what you saying that might be right becuse. i did just have to pull my tank down to put in a new gasket for the filler neck to the tank do you think that would have anything to do with it or?

and what would be the easiest way to check the status of the fuel pump. thanks for helping me out man i am just stumped

I check it with a fuel pressure gauge to make sure it does not drop off. If you ran you car low on gas it will cause it (to drop the tank) but it may have just happened but if its stock then its time to upgrade anyway.

ok i will check that in the morning but there is no possible way that it could be timing or anything else like that.

alright man thanks for all the help i will get back to you tomorrow with some info on what happened i will test them both and just start testing like everything. thanks agian for all the help.

So you are saying that you are going lean on top end is that right? well let me tell you that the air fuel ratio gauge that you are using is worthless because it is a narrow band air/fuel gauge. to really know if you are going lean or not is to drop the car on the dyno or buy a widebang o2 gauge from AEM or Autometer it'll run about 250 bucks but it'll tell you everything you need to know about your air and fueland plus it'll work also if you boost the car or you put nitrous on it so don't be fooled by that gauge it just looks pretty, and pretty doesn't do it.check your timing, spark plugs, or get a fuel pressure regulator if you think you are running lean and bump the fuel pressure a bit say you are running 38 psi boost it up to 42 and recheck or test drive the car. good luck man

i just replaced the fuel filter like 2 months ago and why would it just now be going lean at full throttle but before and full throttle it was full rich. seems to me like it works... and my fuel pressure is at 40

Im no mechanic. I was just thinking maybe when you went wot the fuel filter was gummed up and wasnt lettin enough fuel threw. But if you just changed it then its probubly good.

ya i just changed it but i have been messing around with my timing today and i cant seem to get it just right but. the problem went away alittle bit sometimes it will do it and sometimes it wont so i just dont know yet guys i will keep you all posted though and what is a good way to cool down my car to becuse the damn thing is running really hot in this damn weather and i have a 160 thermastat in there to. and i got the manual fan switch mod installed and its always on. so i dont know what else to do. brand new water pump also

set the timing at 12* (spout out). Since the fuel pump tested good go to spark. coil, plugs, wires, ignition box under air filter(can't remember name right now). First clean the maf sensor!
