Ok, so a few of you may remember that I sent my car to the shop to get the mods in my signature put in. My goal was 300 hp n/a on an AODE, and I called the shop today and they said I dynoed around 290. My question is, short of tearing the motor apart, how can I get that extra 10 or so at the wheels? I went with shorty headers for clearance, but will long tubes give me the 10 hp? I was thinking that if I went with longtubes and maybe an aluminum d/s or flywheel for less parasitic loss that maybe I would get there. What do you guys think?

Forgot to ask before...I also wanted my time to be in the mid 12's. If I launch decently, do you guys think I'll be there? I know the sportlines are hurting me...

I agree with Aaron.

That being said, it's only a number so I wouldn't worry too much about it as long as the car drives like you want it.

Go for the long tubes... I would have definitely done that in the first place :thumb:

You should be able to get in the 12s if you have some nice tires and can drive decent.

those few horsies you wont even feel man. plus if you had a slapbox(5-speed) you would already be there. i wouldnt get too cuaght up with chasing numbers, you can make a 260rwhp car run like a ragged dog with the right suspension+the driver mod

Who's to say you wouldn't put down 300 on a different dyno, or maybe if they let the car cool down and added a little bit of timing. But like others have said, don't get caught up on dyno numbers, it's really just a tool for tuning. The real numbers are at the track, you should be in the 12's on a good tire.

Yeah, I guess you guys are right. Actually, now I have the real dyno sheet. My numbers were 276/288, so I'm not even worried about it anymore. In the beginning, all I wanted was a fun street car anyway, and I got it :) Lol, I was kinda just bein a whiny bitch before...

I think the last few things I'm going to do to the car are LCA's, an Aluminum Driveshaft (just because I want it, I know it really won't make much of a difference), and some sticky tires (275 ET Streets). I've already got a 2400 stall that I'm putting in soon, and with all that, I should be solid in the 12's, which is what I originally set out to do anyway....

Actually, Paul Svinicki from Paul's High Performance tested an aluminum and a stock steel driveshaft back to back with no changes and gained 14 hp at the tires due to the loss of rotational mass.

I wouldnt be to concerned about peak #s, leave that for the dyno queens. More importantly is the #s under the curve!

dyno numbers ain't the end all be all. Wait till fall when muggy ass NC cools down, go back. Remember you're also through an auto. You got 12s in the car EASY. I ran 12.40's with a 5speed and 317rwhp. You should have no problems with high 12s.

Good to know....yeah the weather here sucks lol. If I can't hit 12's with what I've got, then a 100 shot will help me out :)

and I'll try to get my dyno sheet up soon, just incase you guys were wondering....
