the first gear ratio is long as hell compared to the 5-speeds

this I've noticed...
Nope. 4th is 1/1 just like the 5 speeds. 5th is the "bastard gear" being like .82. You do get more mechanical advantage in 2&3 with the T56 vs the 5 speeds though. Depending on which T56 he ended up with, assuming it's the 03-04 cobra T56 he got the worst one. 1st gear ratio on that, as well as the vipers it 2.66 which is horrendous. T45 1st for example is like 3.35. It took 410s just to get my first gear back to where it was with the T45. I'm happy with it now. If it's an FRPP '00 R T56 than he has the 2.95 1st gear. Both of those trans have the .62 6th, the same as the 5 speeds. You just get an extra gear in the mix, more evenly spacing them out. The viper T56 has the .50 OD but suffers from that damned 2.66 1st gear. The best of both worlds is the T56 Magnum. It has the 2.95 1st as well as the .50 6th making 4.30 4.56 diff gears okay for a highway driven street car.you will also notice 3 and 4 are also not like true gears, 3 is normal but 4th is like a half gear lol its odd to explain
