Need a Quick Answer....

Thanks in advance for the quick answer I know you guys will give. I need to paint my radiator cover and dont know which paint to buy. One person told me to buy a black primer, is that right? Thanks for the help guys.

P.S. I tryed to to take that 5.0 plaque off the intake and the stupid screw stipped out in one turn, any suggestions? :wall: :TY:

well i did a little google and alot of people sand it down a little bit to rough it up, then primer it and then paint it with regular paint and it works well.

yeah lol, i'd say a flat black, almost like a primer black LOL, just like u said in the OP

i really think almost any paint will work on it as long as it's not like outdoor furniture or fabric paint.

Thanks for trying to help I appreciate it. I just got some regular flat black paint. It looks alrights but its not dry yet. I am horrible with spray paint and can never get a nice even coat. Time will tell. I will have some pictures tomorrow with some suprise news. The suprise has nothing to do with mustangs though.

Krylon Fusion is meant for plastic.. and i have had great results with spray cans.

i dont do anything special, i just do realllly light coats. i just go back and forth about 3 times per coat and let it dry for about 15 minutes then hit it with another coat until everything is covered and even. i normally do about 5 or 6 total coats of paint. i do really light coats though. normally the first coat of paint doesnt even cover the whole surface up. :thumb:

+1 to everything try said. Fusion works great, but even the flats a little on the glossy side.

dont use primer on plastic. it WILL peal within a year

Thanks guys, the paint I used pealed within five minutes. Now I have to sand all the remaining paint off and go buy the plastic stuff. Man it really looks like crap now. Until tomorrow I am just going to leave the cover off. I did clean up underneath a little though, it sure did need it. Now I have to go to bed dissapointed...... :nonono:

I screwed it all up because I am impatient. THe surface was not as smooth as I thought it was and now I have a really scratched painted cover. I am about to throw the freakin thing away but a new one is too much. I dont suppose anyone has one layin around? :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall:

I always get the black plastic trim paint from the parts store for stuff like that. I use the clear plastic adhesion promoter then the trim paint and I haven't had a problem yet. Give that a shot.
