make sure the fan is working, and that coolant topped off. Also make sure the thermostat is opening, if it's not opening, the lower radiator hose will be cold, and the upper will be hot. Good luck

If its overheating what makes you think its a valve?

Agreed.

What are the symptoms of the car when it happened/after it happened? Did it get hot enough to do any damage?

Gotta be more in depth if youre wanting help man.

first off when you say it overheated what do u mean? it went to the red for an instant before she was shut down or was there for several miles. these engines are pretty tough if you dont overheat but just for a few minutes. what makes you think a valve dropped? Most of the time the seat would have been damaged on an overheat and that means it droped into the cylinder and that means piston may be toast. Head gasket is more likely than valve though.

compression test all cylinders and return with the results.

a blown head gasket is that bad expensive or anything like that? thannks
Well thats what we thought mine was but it ended up being a cracked head instead. I got quoted 1000 bucks for parts and labor on my cobra, but i think its like 900 for just a regular 5.0

cobra should cost the same as a gt for a headgasket
negative, I was thinking the same thing just cause its a 5.0 but cobras have the gt40 head and gt have the E7 heads i think, either way it calls for a completely different gasket set

They have different heads yes, but the head gasket should still be the same. water jackets dont change, head bolts dont change. autozone shows same gasket kit but ford may say differently.

unless you can do it urself, parts would be about 250 to do the job 100% correct. New timing chain, water pump, gasket kit, head bolts, thermostat, etc.
