What would the driveability be on a setup like this? My guess is that it depends alot on the custom cam but would it be kinda rough in idle-low rpms?

Like you said, it depends on the cam design. One of the advantages to a custom cam is you can tell the designer "I would like my car ______" and then they will take that into consideration when they go to pick your cam.

You're trying to get 400HP from a small block 302 so don't expect it to drive like a stock mustang. One advantage of boost is you don't need to build a lot to make the numbers you want.

OR you could do a mild H/C/I setup and bolt a blower on, all for a few grand and be over 400whp with alot better curve, no driveability issues, but different strokes for different folks.
This right here. I have a trickflow HCI on mine and love it, needs a tune but driveability is great, power is great, and it defiantly doesn't sound stock. I *eventually* want to throw a mild Kenne bell onto it and get around 350rwhp, which is my set goal with this car, but even at that I would probably end up needing to replace my aging bottom end.

So I was looking around at packages, and I saw the Edelbrock Head Combo for 1800. Its the only combo I could find for carb'd. I was wondering if this would be a good place to start with a 347 stroker kit.

why would you want to go carb? pointless to me unless its a dedicated track car. if its a dedicated track car then an edelbrock top end kit is not enough.

my point is people were talking smack on edelbrock parts likey are inferior and this site is so pro tf its sick. some of the fastest nmra cars in their class are rocking victor jrs

just the out of the box victor jrs are killer and the price is hard to beat. hell the performer rpms i have on the 66 work great. i got the heads, the intake, cam, matching lifters, all the gaskets for less then 1600 brand new.

I agree that line is definitely inferior, but as an overall Edelbrock makes good stuff. I like the brand, and its a BIG name for a reason. Victor (Jrs or no) are the way to go however. It may be suggested your car is ran at 3000-8000rpm but it can be fun and have plenty of torque from idle on up.

uh my 66 coupe which has a 289, performer rpm heads, cam, intake and a hp holley 650 makes over 300 rwhp through a c4. i wouldn't call them inferior and especially since like i already stated everything except the carb and including all gaskets was 1600 bucks to my door.

but sh1t what do i know

I agree, I've got the Performer RPM 1.90/1.60s and they are awesome. I made 300 w/ a professional products intake, and 300 torque. I'd like to see what is now w/ the new track heat. Edelbrock is a great product for a reasonable price.
