I couldn't tell you what year ford finally found a way to make an auto work cause I know nothing about 97-current trucks but any 96 and prior auto is garbage (except c6)... Please, take my word for it....I had an old bronco with an E4OD... The previous owner had it rebuild twice and never beat on it... I was nice to it only cause the electric shift 4x4 didn't work and it was toast 70k after last rebuild.My buddy burns up his AOD every 6 months, but he beats on it... We're finally ripping that POS out.Another friend of mine had an AODE and only towed with it... He switched over to a manual within 6 months... You can build a decent auto, but I wouldn't bother... would cost way too much IMO...</blockquote>
