Sorry, ill get pic's up soon...

I ended up getting a 1997 red GT vert with a stock 2003 long block. It has a procharger P1-SC, cant tell the mfg of the exhaust, looks like an O/R X pipe cat back system. I havent really cdug under the hood to see what other mods are there, but im sure for the SC there are a few. Approx 56000 miles on the body, motor has 20000 miles on it.
Piston 3 is shot, looks like it detonated big time, under the scope, probably a 1/3 of the crown in missing on the edge from the ring land up. overall it was a steal, hell the SC alone costs more than i paid for the car..... So, i'll be pulling the engine and going with a built short block.

Yeah, this is my first... So i hope i have good luck with it... Im usually an LS guy, and growing up and getting old always wanted one, cant have the one i really want, so i always liked the Sn95, and it seemed like a steal... Currently only drive 1 mile to work each way, so im gonna use this as a daily driver to get the feel of it, check out the short blocks on the market, and start with that as my foundation....

I'll probably go with a built short block..With parts and labor, Im looking at a minimum of $2500.00, if not more, not that familiar with the 4.6L, and i am sure i could probably get a built block anywhere from $3000.00-$4500.00, depending on the company...
Im very weary about putting in the aluminator, even though i am sure it can handle quite a load, however looking around, i have seen some blocks around the low to mid $3000 for a decent block, with the parts i would want installed, only question is how reputable are the builders???

I def have a clear direction of where i want to go, its now coming up with a plan to get there...

MMR was one of the companies i looked at, i was checking out the MMR Street Mod 1000, looks like it would hold up stronger than the Aluminator... Still researching it though, but they are def on my list...

I live in Kearny, NJ....just outside of Manhattan...

Yeah, i know a little about motors just from working on my cars in the past, however i am totally new to the modular motor and EFI, so it should be interesting to see what transpires... Just from driving the car over the past 2 days, i know what the car needs, it just costs money and time...

1st is to get a forged bottom end, while that is getting built, i have to ugrade this suspension, it is killing me, rear is all over the place... I'll probably just get some Vogtland springs, Koni shocks, caster/camber plates, Full length Sub frame connectors, new upper control arms.... I figure that will give me a nice base for the new block.... But i'll have to check if that set up will work ok... Im sure someone has to be running that, i know a buddy of mine has this set up and swears by it...???

I'll have to look into heads and cams, and i got the P1-SC, maybe down the road upgrade to the D1-SC? I havent gotten that far yet. Also, need some long tube headers in there, and a brake upgrade.... and finally a good tune...

Its an ambitious plan, but a plan none the less.... I still have tons of research to do before i fork out any money, so just searching the forums and getting members views on short blocks and reputable companies. fingers crossed...

luckily for these cars, the aftermarket is never ending! Maximum motorsports makes some of the best suspension stuff out there for mustangs btw.

Thanks for the heads up on Maximum Motorsports, i'll have to check them out... I did see some folks posting positive things about them... And right now from the searches i've completed and what i've read, my biggest concerns is the fact that there seems to be such a large market for aftermarket parts... I have trust issues as it is, and giving someone $3000+ makes me just a bit nervous...
then i have to find a real good mechanic that specializes in Mustangs...... 2 days, and it already seems never ending....

Welcome,

Should be a nice machine when its all done.

The pistons breaking like that on the stock motor is very common and seems to be the first place these motors fail with any detonation if the tunes not right.

Can we get some under hood shots?

Any idea what fuel system is in the car? MAF? injectors?

Good luck with the build, sounds like you know what your doing.

It's been raining here, so i havent had a chance to get the camera out, but i'll get some pic's up asap...
As for the fuel system, not to sure what is going on there, i do know i have 42lbs injectors, and the fuel pump is one of the loudest pumps i've ever heard, fuel rails seem to be aftermarket, but i need to do a side by side to be sure, i did glance at the MAF breifly, and im not sure if its stock, or came with the SC? I'll have to contact ProCharger and find out what comes equipped with the P1, im sure there had to be upgrdes to the fuel system to accommodate the SC?

Well you can tell the injectors by the colors on the top usually.

Theres different ways to go about it but you could have walbro 255 lph pump which is pretty solid and mine is pretty loud sometimes.

Is there a Boost a pump in the trunk?

Does the MAF balloon out larger from the normal pipe size?

Either way, once you get it back together you could take it to a tuner to get it all sorted out.

They will be able to figure out if your fuel system is strong enough but if your gonna go crazy and try to make anymore than like 500 rwhp you most likely will need to upgrade some stuff
