Well the time has come for me to get my NHRA Super Gas license (7.50-9.99). So the other day, we went out to the track on a bracket night to try and get some of the 6 required passes in.
The passes go in this order - 1 eighth mile pass, 3 "moderate" or 1,000 ft. passes, and then 2 full passes. I was able to get 3 passes done before we had to leave, but made some good headway. First off, I finally got our FAST system setup to datalog and was able to datalog my 2nd and 3rd passes. Even more important though, on the last pass of the day I recorded my new personal best 60ft. and 1/8 mile times.
Car went 1.35 to the 60 and a pretty stout 6.18 @ 110 to the 1/8. I shut off at about 7.2 second according to the fast and got on the brakes, resulting in a 10.20 @ 99 mph, haha. Anyway, doing a calculation for the back-half numbers our car usually runs, that pass would have been a 9.66 or somewhere around there, and all at only 9psi max.
Here's a pic my friend took of the car:
All in all I was pretty excited. mid-9's with only 9 psi is pretty sweet in my book. Can't wait to finish the licensing and turn it up to 15-18 psi and see what it does.
EDIT: Took the car back out this past weekend to finish up my licensing and to test for an upcoming race and scored a new best for the car as well as myself.
Ran 9.64@142 with a 9psi tune that hasn't been changed or touched since the beginning of the year. 1.34 60 foot, 6.14 @ 111 in the 1/8. Pretty happy. We have another pulley to throw on the car now that will increase blower RPM by about 8,500 RPM, so hopefully that will be enough to get me into the 5's (1/8 mile) so I have a shot at this race coming up.
