I true and typical Daryl fashion, I just couldn’t stop at “that’ll do” for now. Here’s the short version of what could turn out to be a LONG story: (are ya sittin down?)
I ended up taking the TB off out of fear of stripping the more forward of the 2 Phillips screws on the TPS. Aft one came out (stubbornly), but cleanly; no strippage. TB looks clean as heck. The intake manifold from there back??… not so good. Don’t know if this is “OK” or normal, but there’s a solid coating of black soot (?) in there. See pic below.
And, to top it off, I noticed the silver coating on the intake manifold is chipping. So naturally I had to pick at it like a scab on your arm! (roll eyes). So now I’m thinking while it’s partially apart, remove the intake, clean the snot out of it and have it re-coated. Heck, may as well do the valve covers too while I’m at it.
Typical can-o-worms, right?! LOL
