I have finally put my engine together the way I've wanted but now its a mess and i want to make things match. I have given some thought to painting parts black to match my exterior but I'm not sure if it should be gloss or flat black. Anyways, if anyone has painted or polished thier intake, please feel free to post and show off some colors.

Heres what im starting with

Thanks, I looked in there first but not to many painted uppers. So do you think suspects is flat black or satin?

Thats not my car. Thats suspects... he was an old member on here.
Sorry for the confusion. I just like what he did with his so i posted it as an example.

Regarding yours, i'd personally get gloss black on the intake. It gives a better, more rich appearance under the hood.

I have that manifold. Here's my setup. All sanded and powdercoated by yours truly.

I believe suspects is powdercoated satin. I just stripped the black powdercoat I had done to polish mine last winter. In the end I went back to my original set up with gloss black. As far as your bay the silver looks good and id probably go with that and some brushed aluminum accents and maybe a little black scattered about. All black in a black bay starts to look like a black blobby mess.

I painted mine with Duplication-color engine enamel when I tore it down to clean my IMRC's. I put 4 coats of the red on ( sanding each coat), then a good coat of clear.

This is all great info guys, especially Opal and Paul. I like your idea Opal of keeping the factory finish on the upper but removing the hideous yellow battery and polishing a few parts, maybe keep the current red parts. Keep the pics coming tho.
