I was tired of the boring black but didn't know what I wanted to do with it until I got those dupli-color metalcast paints last week. I started by sanding off all the little writting on the top and hit it with a coat of primer. I followed it up with aluminum colored paint, 2 coats of the smoked metalcast and then 2 coats of the green metal cast. I made the decal design with the pony and the checkerboard on my decal cutter and used a highly reflective chrome vinyl to make it pop. I love the way the piece looks on its own, but unfortunatly it doesn't match anything else under the hood and now really REALLY POPS! I can fix that easily by doing the same treatment to the fuse box cover as well as a coil cover I just made and was struggling what to cover it with and another piece I will show shortly. Forgive the close up but like I said at the moment there isn't anything around it that helps it blend in.

if anyone else wants to customize their cover like mine hit me up with a pm. I can put what ever logo you want in it.

Now one last question, should I take the "." out of the"5.0" and replace it with red square leds? if would be for the show only of course and have a switch on it to turn it off but I think it would be an extra nice touch, what about you?

I am going to draw that checkerboard theme into a couple of other areas that I have been wondering what to do. My chrome intake has been getting duller for a while and bugging me so I think I will continue it there as well. The coil cover actually rests right aginst this cover so I will just be carefull to line up the checkerboard carefully between the two to help blend it across the two.

So how about lighting up the "point"?

I know what you mean. weird.
here is another ?. How flexable is that paint? Isn't that dizzy cover rubber?
How about another pic just a little farther away so we can see how it looks with everything else.

No, Its plastic. Foxbody ones were rubber. I like it! I think it would be more of a PITA than anything as far as lighting that "." up. Some may like it, if they have a show car. :)

don't light it up. leave it as is. it would get too cluttered if you tried to do more.

it is hard plastic and just snaps in place over the top of the dist. the piece doesn't flex much it is more a problem of it rubbing on the intake but that would be in a place you would not see it.

Right now it sticks out like white socks on a black suit because it is he only piece painted in this them, and to be honest that chrome vinyl is really bold aginst it. I painted the fuse cover to match and it came out pretty well, I am just waiting for my cameral to charge to take a couple of pics.

I just made a coil cover that I could not decide how to cover/plate but since it is right next to this piece I am going to continue the individual checkers on the design to that it will flow from one piece to the other. The cover will also act as the grounding point for when I upgrade my power wires to 1/0 awg wire. There is also a fuse holder for the stereo that I had to make a small mounting point for that goes right above the fuse box that I will also paint to match. I will keep you guys updated but my camera has been giving me issues lately.

thanks for all the compliments. Since it was my mothers, I am never going to sell it. So I do little projects here and there and have a long list of things that I plan on upgrading when I find the right deal. So far it has been more show then go just because I have done all those things myself but do not know motors at all. I am hoping that will change soon as I would love to do the mechanical work on it as well.

I have the coil cover and the fuse holder that I am painting to match ready to go and hope to do them tonight, let them dry overnight and have pics in the morning.
