thats way to much work. i'd just do it in vinyl. that stuff is cheap and you just cut it to fit.

if taking 2min to take some tape and mask off a little part of the bumper to prevent overspray, is too much work, then you must be real freakin lazy.

take your time masking, thats the trick. Try to get the paint line right in the middle of dip in the bumper. thats how ford did it.

i spend about and hour masking (2/3 mess-ups) and put trashbags over the whole rear of the car.

not much work when it cam out as clean as it did on my car's ass lol

i guess it all depends on how good you want it to look

i'm actually really meticulous about body stuff so i would end up spending the time that SRT Handz did if i wanted to paint it.

I can understand that, i mean i take hours upon hours finishing out just one tail light, but something as simple as taking enough newspaper just to cover any overspray, which you dont need any more than 1 newspaper's width of paper lining the entire part of the bumper where youre painting, and taking a rattle can and just spraying over the existing paint, takes all of 10 minutes. ive done this on 3 cars now, and the first time i did it was roughly 3 years ago, and i never saw any flaking, and it look(ed/s) perfect on all the cars ive done it on. it looks like the factory painted it, and it took no prepwork. i did back into a stone wall at work that put a few small gouges in the bottom valance, but i just took a pinch of body filler, put it in, and even without masking it off, just resprayed it, and you would never know there was any marks there from the wall.

i guess its one thing to take your time, to take your time, but you can only take so long to spell your own name... i guess what im saying is, its one thing to take longer to make it look nicer, but if its going to turn out just the same doing it in 5min, whats the extra 6 hours going to do, other than just waste time?

I bet you ask any bodyshop and they would recommend wet sanding it or at lease scuffing it up..We all know that paint sticks better to a clean surface and a good way to do that is wet sanding it.. and why not take the extra time to make sure its perfect?

+1000 to SRT handz I did it exactly the same way just scuff the valence and use the bumper paint he used its a perfect match. Oh and do a few light coats. The reason you want to cover up most of the rear is because in a spray can, the paint will spit out so you start spraying on the newspaper and sweep across the valence. Never just spray where you want to paint, it will splatter.
