So, as most of you kids know, my interior was originally grey, and the PO decided it all needed to be black, so he spray painted it all. I've slowly been working towards making it all real black, so most of my interior is from a 95 car. In case you didn't know, new edges didn't come with black, so it's another neat little thing, real enthusiasts will enjoy :D Anywho, preparing for one of the largest shows I attend, this coming weekend, we decided to swap out my steering wheel for the real black one I have, and the column piece. That started the "well, let's refinish your air bags, since the paint is coming off of them" Drivers side, I had to do twice, but it finally took the paint. Passenger side, I scuffed and degreased and cleaned over and over, and it would still get messed up every time, till I finally said F that, and sanded the thing down entirely, getting rid of all texture, and the SRS and Mustang lettering. Primed it, let it sit and made a McDonalds run, scuffed it and got rid of the runs, wiped it down, let it dry, then painted it, until I was satisfied. Took it outside the next morning, and it bubbled after seconds in the sun. I tried smoothing out the bubbles, but I wasn't happy. On such short notice, I'd be hard pressed to find an SN-95 air bag, and rewire it to my style connector (I know drivers side is diff wires, maybe pass is ok) so I decided to put a vinyl over it. Would have done straight black, but couldn't find it, thought the CF might add a little pizaz anyways. I'm not good at this, so I asked my neighbor to help out, since he's excellent at it. In the pictures, we aren't quite done. I will be going back once it's completely dry, popping any air bubbles that might appear, as well as trimming off the excess. He said not to do it yet. Anyhow, here you go: That gouge happened when I took out a bubble that formed, then you can see the thousand pinholes. Pin holes and bubbles The wrap, $15 at Vatozone My awesome neighbor! It helps when people can't ffind the door handles at night lol. Anyways, I know some won't like it, I know some will, just an idea to be different.
