okay im going to let you in on something, that paxton intercooler is expensive. i did my front mount converted to blow through and added a bov for a little less than that. you will loose a 1-2 psi but the cooler air charge will definitely let you put a way more aggressive tune which will net more hp. if you dont want to do an intercooler you can always pic up a water meth kit. that way you will loose 0 psi but will get the job done just as good as a front mount. i personally want to get this to go with my intercooler to make the air as cold as possible. the water meth will be the cheapest http://www.alcoholinjectionsystems.com/p102/Stage-2-Competition-Trunk-Mount-Water-Methanol-Injection-System/product_info.html

Well I have nitrous so I was thinking about just running a 50 shot to cool the air off at the track.

You seem to know quite a bit about this stuff, we'll have to hang one day and maybe i'll become a bit more knowledgable lol

I just have a crappy Bosch release valve, i'd like to get something better before putting the blower on.

Two things...

1. What exactly does "blow-through" mean?

2. And there is a FuelSlut cruise tomorrow, you should come! Awesome weather and a nice cruise from O-Town to Daytona

well ill start off by saying that bosch will prolly die quick with 18psi. i am pretty sure they are only recommended for up to 12 psi.

1. blow through maf meters the air after its already pressurized, my meter is on the pass side after the intercooler. if it was a draw through maf it would be at the end of the power pipe reading the air before it goes through the supercharger.

2. i wish i could. but i still never did finish my hood and im going out of town to celebrate my b-day that was yesterday.

Ok gotcha, then I have a draw through setup, I assum that running a blow through setup makes a bit more power?

I'm going to stick with the draw through for now, and upgrade the BOV before I install everything.

What BOV are you running? Sorry for so many questions lol

i dunno if it makes more power but it allows you to run a BOV which is just cool. lol. also if you are going to stick with a draw through you will have to stay with a by-pass valve. u can use the vortech mondo one. but any way im running a big ass tial alpha q BOV.

The Vortech Mondo looks good, definitely a million times better than my current Bosch lol

what your looking to do is pretty much what i have/will be doing. I run a paxton front mount with my SI trim, and when my motor build is done I will be adding a meth kit to cool the charge even more. i have it between the Snow Performance stage 2 boost cooler kit, or I really really like that AIS system posted that mounts in the trunk. I'm sure both will get the job done

Nice! Except i'll be using nitrous instead of meth.

And i'm undecided on whether or not to go intercooled or not. Maybe for the sake of getting the blower on soon i'll go without an intercooler for now and ad one later.

i installed the same kit as you a paxton novi 2000, and instead of a intercooler im going with a meth kit just cheaper and just easier on my wallet plus i hardly drive the car so i wont be filling up my meth tank a lot:) and the crappy bosch bypass valve there crap i just took mine out cuz it was making my car surge at cruzing speed and bought a hks bov with a recirculation kit to back into my intake.

yeah man, thats what i did. first i just bought the mongoose kit and lowered the pulley. my next step was the paxton front mount, vortech mini race bypass, and the 3.12 pulley. Now I'm building up the motor, upgrading my SQ to an SI, slapping on a even smaller blower pulley and changing everything to 8 rib with a 10% OD crank pulley, and adding a meth kit.

thats whats nice about these types of setups, you dont have to do every single mod at once...once you get the cash add on the i/c...but eventually I would highly suggest doing one. good luck

I'm just not sure if I want an intercooler so I can run a more aggressive tune, or stick with no intercooler and use the nitrous to cool it off.

I understand everything you said, it's just a matter of preference now

lol. i was just messing with you. but i would suggest at least meth. especially if u drive it all the time on the street cuz it is going to make a lot of heat. nitrous will prolly only be used at the track, which u could still use even with the addition of meth which would protect your motor from the high heat. my iats non intercooled at like 15psi were 190ish. thats really freaking hot.

my turbo kit came with new cooler. i had a vortech s trim with the huge paxton cooler on it. worked really good since i live in the hot ass 504. that junk ass bosch valve use to surge bad when crusing and really bad when downshifting to get on it. i'm trying to sell my paxton cooler with all plumbing for $650. also have a few extra pulleys for vortech and paxton superchargers
