mine was a Cobra R take-off, so I guess that would technically make it HO Fibertrends.

NO HOFibertrends MADE the Cobra R Hood for Ford. It's not a "knockoff", it's still made from the original mold but obviously Ford doesn't deal with them any longer because that hood doesn't need to be produced any longer.

It's just a CobraR hood just like every other one, except they have the right to make it however they choose. (per my understanding)

Yeah thats the same as mine, I have one of the 7 prototype R Hoods that were made before they started regular production for the 95 R hoods.

I was considering a 1.5" one or a single step 3.5" for my car. I went totally the other way and went with a 96-98 Cobra one. To me, the taller ones don't look so good. On your car's they look great, though. Just not for me.
please dont tell me you bought a brand new 96-98 cobra hood. in about a month ill have one to practically give away, as well as probably a bunch of other people on here, and plenty more on svtp... but im sure you know that.

why giving them away?

like every other person on svtp has an aftermarket hood... and you dont see a lot of people with 96-98 cobra hoods on their v6/gt's... where do you think all those factory hoods are? theyre probably sitting in peoples' garages/basements/etc, just waiting for someone to offer them something for it.
well when you are ready to practically give it away, look me up.

"Yea, it was H.O. Fibertrends and they still make the hoods... but I'm for this one not for the vision quest mailbox of those 4" inch race types

The car was built as a special project car , the exact date that this was done Im not sure. The paper work I have on the car indicates 2002 but I think that was when the car was sold to the previous owner. The car was owned by a Roush employee who sold the car to Craig barker who was the power train manager at Roush at the time. They yanked out the 302 put in the 351R along w/ a lot of prototype parts that went onto the R. The part I have not found out yet if this was done before the R's release or if it was prototype parts they had left laying around after the R came out. I contacted Craig Barker at one time but hes not much for words. Hes not to happy the car was modded at all from his original mods that he did. This was mostly directed at Jimmy the previous owner. Only thing Jimmy did was put on better heads, cam and a supercharger at that time. Anyway the Hood, Mass air, Valve covers, ECU were all prototype units. Barker put in a custom program into the ECU which is prob why it has not been to mod friendly but that will be fixed w/ the dyno tune and chip on May 2.

i already have a line of requests. i couldnt keep this thing off my car for a week even if i wanted to. it boggles my mind that companies that sell brand new hoods, even bother producing a 96-98 cobra hood. theyre not hard to come by, as so many people take them off their cobras anyway... and its not like people are asking $400 for a factory hood.
