I've been thinking about trying a mild P&P on the NPI's. Have any of you ever P&P your NPI heads on your own? Are there any articles or anything on P&P'ing NPI's? Also, I already know why it is best to have these done professionally.

For everyone that hasn't run in here yet, failed reading comprehension and tells him to just have it done, the "pro's" that port heads for a living learned by going out with a die grinding and experimenting....

NPI heads are cheap enough, or free enough, to try it out IMO

I agree, you can get a set of spare heads for next to nothing now so get a set and practice....or better yet get 2 or 3 sets and practice. Just go slow and don't remove too much material at a time. Even if you did a gasket match and clean up it would help especially on the exhaust side as its pathetic on NPI's.

Exactly, pro's become pro by taking on these jobs themselves. I've read that article, it's really good. I have a compressor, grinder and all that, with the intention of learning to do port work with. My dad has a few old heads I'm going to practice on before the NPI's. I'm getting some PI's anyway, so if I end up destroying them it'll be OK, it isn't like I'm porting $1000+ heads...we'll see what happens.

lol yea, if it was me a gasket match and bowl work would be in order... and maybe just a polish of the rest to take out all imperfections.

I have read that site before. I am still contemplating trying to do my heads myself. I am not sure if anybody local has a flow bench. would be intersting to see.
