I've been doing a little research and was considering trying to pick up a set of gt40p heads for my stang. I found some pretty cheap. The problem is the headers. I haven't found any headers that will fit 94 -95 cars w/ gt40p's and I wouldn't give $400 for them anyway. Thats more than twice what I was going to pay for the heads. My question is can you port the stock heads to flow as well as gt40's? Anyone ever do any home-garage bench-top gasket match porting? I have to stay really cheap with this.

a guy I know sent his stock E5 heads off his fox to the machine shop to have them ported, polished, port matched, and bigger valves put in. he said when it was all said and done it cost him 1600 bucks. I told him not too but he didn't listen. I still dont think they will outflow a set of AFR's

theres a great website for porting the e7s. www.diyporting.comhttp:// if i could give some advice to that is that a gasket match is gonna give you the least amount of gains of anything you can do. you will see the most gains from bowl work and unshrouding the valves. the point of porting heads is really to get the maximum efficiency of the heads and to make every port match and consistant in flow and size. as stated in the website is keeping the same sized valves and reshaping the bowl and combustion chamber enough to unshroud the valves and adding angles to the valves.

waste of money get the gt40s and find some headers you'll be happier

+1 or find a set of cast iron gt40 for not much more than the gt40p heads. they are out there you just have to look.

ive been looking for a set of gt40 heads. they are running in the 350-400 range plus shipping. very rare to find a set that are cheaper than that. its always best to have any used heads checked out before you put them on the car. that could add up to 300+ more dollars then you are at about what a used set of aluminums cost. i would only go the gt40s if i ported them myself which is what i would do. ive been debating this lately especially seeing used aluminum heads going in the 600-900 range.

Just go to a Junkyard the pull a part down near me has some i just haven't gotten any money together to get some. I wanna say i think it's 48 or 53 a head. So $100 bucks and you have yourself a set of heads. You will have to pull them yourself but why not.

Ok I've been checking around for some headers if I decided to go w/ gt40p's. Will these work if I do away w/ the EGR (MAC part# e508692)? I found them on EBAY for $179 shipped
