so i built my motor with world products victor jr heads, a lunati voodoo cam, and erson adjustable roller rockers with hydraulic roller rockers and hydraulic lifters.

the first time this happened i was going up a hill under moderate load at about 3k rpm when i noticed lots of rocker chatter. shut it down, got it towed back home, and noticed #8 exhaust valve was loose as balls. had a local mustang buddy of mine who is one of the only people i trust with my car re-adjust my valves. (figured i didnt do it right). fired it up and ran great for most of the summer. but last weekend i was at an autocross, spun a cookie on dry pavement and kept my foot in it and completed my smokey cookie. headed off around the corner and noticed the same sound in the same general area.

now at this point i havent gotten to tear it down and see whats up under the valve covers as im currently garageless. i purhased the noted parts as sort of a package deal from a local speed center. so heres my questions.

do you think the pushrods are too short? ive had them adjusted twice, and they didnt seem to short? nothing was rubbing? everything seemed as though they were correct so i didnt bother to measure the pushrod length or even check to see if the back pushrod was bent. (i just assumed i adjusted the valves incorrectly, my bad obviously)

is it likely i have a faulty lifter that bleeds down under harsh load?

also, i drove it home from the autocross, and the chatter went away. how the hell could the chatter start and then go away?

as soon as i find a place to tear it apart, im going to install my turbo kit and everything, but obviously not until i find the culprit to the top end chatter on the driver rear head.

if i dont find anything, i think im going to order some hardened pushrods, and reorder lifters as well. because at this point. im lost as all hell.

any suggestions or advice is appreciated

world product don't make victor jr, they make windsor jr heads.

but anyway, i would check pushrod length, the checker tool is only like 10 dollars from summit, so worth checking. then, i would check to see if maybe he just didn't tighten the rockers down correctly with the locking nut (don't remember what those are called lol) but they can come loose if not tightened down correctly...

sounds to me like you have a lifter going flat. as you drive it, the lifter pumps back up and the noise goes away.
I don't know why it would go flat though

kind of what i was thinking. i find it weird that both of us have adjusted the valves and ONLY the same one makes noise, kind of ruling out incorrect valve lash set and torque procedures.

so far im thinking

a. incorrectly soaked lifter

b. bent pushrod. (the heads that i got came with a pre assembled valvetrain. i need to do some research and see what the cam spring kit is and see if im overstressing the lifters/pushrods with the pressure of the springs that are in the head now.)

so after doing some research im thinking once i tear it down again i need to order a spring kit. the springs in the heads seem to be putting to much tension on the lifters. once i order my spring kit that comes with matched lifters hopefully it will fix my problem. i also need to get a pushrod length tool to double check things just in case.

heres my spec sheets of heads, cam, and roller rocker.
