I am planning to put on new upholstery cover on the front seats in my '94 convertible. Some producers (TMI) and vendors say that the covers in '94 were glued by ford to the seat foam. I also read somewhere that Ford did inject the foam under the cover and so it is bonded. This later sounds to me a bit hard to believe. The gluing I could imagine.

Have you removed the covers from factory seats from the early SN95 cars? Does it come off without damaging the foam, or is it indeed glued together and gets damaged during removal?

I replaced the foams in my front seats, But I can confirm the back seats were definitely glued. Where you normally would have rods and stays. I carefully went in with my hands and separated it. Yes, small bits of foam may come with the leather. Just try to minimize it. In my v10 thread you can see what the process was like as I dumped a bunch of pictures for the back seat at least. The front seats I used new tmi foams and they had the rods and stays if I recall.

So the seams where the rods and stays are had the glue on the back seat.as you can see the removal isn't perfect. But when you install the new covers ypu won't notice that little bits are missing.

Here are some more pics on the back seat to give you ideas of how that part is done any. I have no idea how the new covers work eith rods and stays on the front seats with the original foams.

Thanks. Were the front seat covers also glued to the foam?

I want to say yes some of it was. It looked like someone worked on the seats at one point so its tough to say. I think it was probably glued in the creases

Wow looking at that passenger side seat makes me feel like mine is still too good to make over.

Well, the passenger side actually is indeed still nice, but the driver side started to rip through.

I am thinking to redo the driver side with a new foam and real leather with perforated inserts, but then I would have to do the passenger side, too to match. The covers I would have to buy for both front seats anyhow, but it would be great if I could do the passenger seat without buying new foam for it.

Anyone I talked to that replaced them said that there was no way of saving the foam and keeping them looking good
Then there is no way around it, I need to buy two foams. :-(
Or I stay with the original design and just redo the driver seat with new foam and vinyl to match.

I would put the money into something else and keep using these. That drivers seat doesn't look that bad.
