So the last week or so i had been getting the bad creaking noise from my right side brake caliper. Today i pulled the caliper to inspect what was up and discovered that the lower caliper floating pin was seized to the bracket.

The pin is not coming up. I have done everything to try and get it out but its no go. I am getting a new caliper and bracket tomorrow.

The question i have is about the left side caliper. On the left side the lower pin is not seized but is VERY hard to move. The area where the floater pin slides into is full of dirt and Crap. Should i buy a new beacket for this side also or should i grease up a new pin to do the job?

i would attempt to clean the crap out of all the pins/hardware in your old left side.. if you have any corrosion on the pins,
if not too severe, take some fine sandpaper to them. And be sure to use a silicone based lubricant.

I actually just did some job shadowing a mechanic for a few days, learnt alot. He said one of the things most people forget is to lube the slider pin, which I always do. I think we used a silicon type lube at the dealership, can't remember 100% though...

Both my rear calipers seized at the same time.....I would say to just replace the things and not dick around with them at all.

I just went to the parts store and got 2 rebuilt OEM calipers and brackets. My calipers were fucked up lol

it cost me $115 per re-built caliper and bracket. Only 1 parts store carried the bracket and i had to by the caliper to get it. i just replaced both because the calipers were just BEAT lol

It's been a long time since I pulled them, and I don't feel like climbing under my car with a flashlight. Snap a pic and I'll tell you. Or is this another story that didn't really happen?

Paul, its the damn spring retracts the parking brake cable. i need to take the tention off the cable. I am thinking of using a c-clamp or vice grips

Can't you just use a pair of pliers to pop the cable out of the caliper?

i pretty much have to engage the parking brake without the cable to remove the cable for the calipers.

The chilton manual says to disconnect the ebrake cable from the lever inside the car...... i know there has to be a way around that

you just have to get a pair of pliers and yank the end of it forward to pull the wire off...it should pull pretty easy
