For the past 6 years have just learn to deal with my rear seat issue. Since I have had the car my rear seat has sat fun for a while. The whole back part of it seems 1 to 2 inches too high I modified the rear lat he'd to work so they would stay up but when the backs are all the way up the headrest will move up to allow the seats to move up. But the rest headrest is broken so it just sits there. I was wondering of anyone here had any ideas. ll the bolt holes line up
. I'm lost

Damn that auto cock rectal. I mean autocorrect

(lol, saw an autocorrect fail with that one time)

I think I know what you're getting at. When you slam on the brakes your seats fold forward. They don't latch? And your rear cover dohickey is broken (like most of them are) and just sits on top of the seats.

To JB, the black "foam/rubber piece that goes over the rear seat back rest, is what ford calls a head rest for the rear passenegers. On my car, the rear " head rest" that sits over the rear seat, the tabs for that are broken. The rear seat, when i first bought the car, would fold down when i hit the brakes hard and the head rest would shoot forward and hit the driver and passenger seats. So to fix that my uncle and i removed the latches on frame for the seats the actual tabs on the frame work for the seats, we took off and moved them up i believe. now they work great. they no longer fall forward. but since the begining, I have noticed that the head rest has always sat way to high on the rear seats. the seats also are about 1 to 1.5 inches to high. I have taken the frame work out about 2 weeks ago and tried to lower them but with out success. all of the bolts are in the correct locations, sorta. the bolt that hold the head rest are no longer there, but there are sheet metal screws there that pretty much keep it all in place... the lower bolts for the frame work are there are in the correct location.

Are the mounts that hold the seat to the frame bent in any way? You said your latches weren't working properly when you originally bought the car. Maybe something happened to the frame. Do you have pictures of all that.

Maybe someone knows if vert seats are different. You could have different seats from the previous owner trying to replace the interior?!?!?!

Man, that is weird!!! Do you need the back seat to haul kids? Friends? If not, have you considered a rear seat delete? You can get them thru one of our vendors or even make your own.

As Joekd stated, vert rear seatbacks are 1 solid piece. They also don't have the little nylon pull strip at the top of the seat b/c the vert seatbacks don't fold down.

Time for a trip to the JY or ebay. Get a new rear seat and a new headrest piece. I would not even bother trying to fix whatever the eff is wrong there... Or just do a delete.
