My mechanic suggested that I get new roller rockers when I start upgrading my engine parts. Can someone guide me. What do I get 1.6 or 1.7? What's the difference?

1.6 is the stock ratio and 1.7 gives you more lift but put more stress on your valvetrian I believe , so if your going NA 1.7's are great but if you plan on adding boost stick with the 1.6's and If you want more lift get a cam. I am not a master mechanic but I believe thats the jist of it. There is post on here about this topic that actually shows the formula for calculating lift with different rocker arm ratio's I think. :book1:

You can get whatever brand roller rockers you want as long as you get the desired ratio it doesn't matter, you don't NEED to get a certain brand rocker arm to accomodate a certain brand cam that is :bs: . However if you get a kit its a one stop shop I guess. Also they will be 1.6 most likely if you do get a kit FYI. I like the scorpion roller rockers myself.

Do you guys recommend looking for some good used ones or stick to buying a new set? I've seen two sets of them on craigslist one set of 1.6 scorpions for $200 new, the other set is also new, 1.6 ratio but they're ford racing, Is that a good deal, or should I keep searching?

Are you getting a different cam? If so then yes, if not no. The cam manufacturer will tell you what length pushrods you need for the specific cam, or you could just get a cam kit and it would come with the pushrods and some other goodies depending on where you get it.

Both rockers are good. The Ford Racing are great rockers.

The difference between 1.6 and 1.7 is 30 thousandths.

Your going to want to measure for pushrods if you're running anything other than stoc E7 heads and or cam.

I'm a big fan of Comp Pro Magnum rockers. I use them on all my cars now.

what heads are on your car?

be cautious buying a set without knowing what you need... ie, pedestal or stud mount, and then are different size studs too
