rough start up!!

:BangHead:with first start up the car idles good but u cant give it any gas or it sounds like out of gas or flooded and if u mash the gas it goes duuuuhhh let off and idles fine. when it sits and runs for about 5or so mins it revs fine help!!

Clean your MAF it's one of the easiest and cheapest things to do. Have you pulled codes yet?

ill do that 2morrow but as far as tha codes i have a obd reader but when i plug it in[the one near ur rite leg behind tha radio]the meter says link error!

that's because that's not where you plug it in.
obd1 reader plugs in by the r/h shock tower
while your cleaning the maf also do the IAC.

i know about the 1 under tha hoodi just plugged it inside the car cause the plug fits there just like my old 95 v6 and my 00 ranger and it would link rite up and tell me the codes. what do i use to clean the iac? it says not to clean it w/anything. i have the cleaner 4 tha maf

To the best of my knowledge cleaning the IAC at best buys a bit of time. The Ford service manual reads as follows:


Idle Air Control (IAC) Valve

CAUTION:
Do not use Carburetor Tune-Up Cleaner D9AZ-19579-BA (ESR-M14P9-A) or any other type of solvent or damage to the valve internal components may result.

The idle air control valve (IAC valve) (9F715) cannot be cleaned and must be replaced (if required).

The ODB11 connector under the dash is not functional on the GT. It's there because it's the same harness as the V6.

which kind of meter do i need to pull tha codes for that plug? the parts stores say they cant read codes on cars unless its a 96 or newer

I use a paper clip method listed in the haynes/chilton manual. or you can buy an obd1 Ford reader.
both connect to the same place by the shock tower

check the fuel pressure regulator, a goofy fpr will give your a rough start. but idles and rev fine after a few sec. dont know if thats what your car is doing.
