In the 97 cobra, fill the overflow/reservoir to the max line and leave the cap off. Remove the plug on the coolant crossover with a 1/4" extension...put a funnel in place of the crossover cap (one like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400032437502&crlp=1_263602_304652&ff4=263602_304652&viewitem=&guid=1c6ace6012c0a02652d315b3fffcf23e&hlp=false&rvr_id=176854321316&ua=M*S%3F&itemid=400032437502#ht_718wt_941 ), and fill with water/coolant until the overflow is back at the max line (sometimes the coolant level will go down when the crossover cap is removed) and put the overflow cap back on. Be sure someone is at the funnel holding it on (make sure it's in tight so water doesn't seep out the base), fill with water and start the car. BE SURE THERE IS CONSTANTLY WATER IN THE FUNNEL! Let the car run for a bit...once the coolant cycles and the car gets up to temperature to where the t-stat opens, you can plug the crossover back up ONLY if the funnel is holding water (you can tell almost immediately if there are air bubbles in the system). You can also squeeze the rad hoses to release any bubbles stuck to the walls. Hope I explained it clearly!
