I've got about $2000 saved up for a new shortblock, I am looking for something that can handle 500rwhp from a Kenne Bell or Turbo. Do I have to have a forged crank to be safe? What about a main girdle and windage tray? I know it's pushing the limits of a stock block but don't have the cash for a dart boss ect. so what should I look for to handle the power? I am also going to need to upgrade the tranny as well so any cost effective (~1000) suggestions on that would be helpful as well maybe a 3550? Also if any of you guys are selling a shortblock or decent tranny let me know!

Stock block can take it, as for how long who knows. Being safe would take an aftermarket block.

No, your block will go before your rotating assembly.

Girdle is a waste of money.

Windage tray is garbage in my opinion. I would rather have more lubrication on my moving parts.

Less power or save for an aftermarket block. This is not a cheap hobby by any means.

Find a 3550, TKO, TKO 500 or TKO 600. You can find good deals, you just have to look.

So do you think I should opt for a stock block w cast crank, forged rods and forged pistons and call it good and aim a little lower say 425? :dontknow: As far as the tranny goes could I keep my clutch/flywheel if I got a 3550, what else would I need to put that tranny in besides a drivline spacer and proper bell housing?

You need:

* Fox fork
* Foxbell or a quick time (which is $$$)
* Spacer

So what aftermarket tranny is the easist to put in my 94GT as far as extra parts/changing parts? Trying to get this done before spring and I've got 4000 budget for shortblock+tranny and hopefully enough for some kind of power adder. Would still like to know if the LMR shortblock can handle mid 400hp?

The LMR shortblock is for a basic rebuild imo. Nothing special....a fully built 302/306 shortblock for $700?? It's probably loaded with cheap parts.

Take your block to a machine shop, have them clean it up and prep it. Tell them you want your crank re-done with matching bearings...

Here is a set of Ford Racing forged i-beams for $90. Price is legit..not sure how they sell them that cheap but they do.

Invest in a nice forged piston like a Probe FPS dished set. Budget but will tak a beating..have the final compression with the heads in or around a 9:1

Have them assemble it and have fun.

Find a used Tremec 3550 and throw it in...tear up the streets.
